Admissions

On arrival to the hospital, we kindly request that all patients check-in at the main reception desk which is located on the ground floor of the hospital. If you anticipate that you may arrive later than your appointment time, please contact us so that we can ensure that we make the necessary amendments to our daily schedule to facilitate you and our other patients.

Morning Surgery Policy

All patients being admitted for morning surgery or undergoing general anaesthetic are requested to fast from midnight i.e. nothing to eat or drink including water.

Afternoon Surgery Policy

All patients who are scheduled for surgery in the afternoon are advised to have a light breakfast i.e. just tea and toast up to approximately 7am and to fast thereafter.

A designated driver will be required by all patients receiving general anaesthetic or sedation.

What to Bring to the Hospital

The following items are required by patients attending at the hospital

  • Letter from your doctor or any item outlined by the consultant specific to your procedure
  • All medications
  • Night attire/slippers/dressing gown (for overnight stays)
  • Toiletries & Towels

Personal/Cosmetic Items

Please note prior to surgery we request that the following items are removed

  • All nail polish including clear polish
  • All jewellery and piercings (or taped)
  • All makeup, mascara, body lotions, talcum powder or perfume

Valuables/Money

We strongly advise all patients not to bring valuables or large amounts of cash into the hospital. Any valuables brought into the hospital are done so at the patient`s risk.

Discharge

On discharge from the hospital it is important that you have considered the following

  • Have you arranged your transport home?
  • If you have a wound what care is needed?
  • If there are any problems at home, who do you contact?
  • Have you got all of your belongings?
  • Have you got a letter from your doctor?
  • Do you require an outpatient`s appointment?
  • When can you return to work and normal activity?
  • Do you need a medical certificate for your employer?
